Behind-the-scene commentary from Greg Evans:
And once again, Brad gets vacuumed up into one of TJ’s insane plans. Just when it seems Brad is maturing, gaining confidence, becoming his own man, he buckles under the smooth con of TJ and the beautiful purity of Toni. Result: he’s constantly in over his head, paddling like crazy to stay afloat.

This ends up being both amusing and annoying. Many readers wanted Brad to stop being such a doofus, stand up to TJ and show confidence with Toni. About midway in this collection, he does show some moxie when he grills Toni about her feelings for Dirk and why she left her glove. But, of course, in the end, the Relationship Progress Bar has moved about 1/64th of an inch.

Speaking of moving slowly, this collection is a good example of the weird comic strip time-warp I talked about in Vol. 11. The 23 strips here that ran almost a month, from June 19 to July 14, cover a single evening in real time.

A little drawing note: the candle on the table very gradually grows shorter from 7-2 to 7-11 where it finally goes out. These are the details a cartoonist must deal with. I know. How DO I deal with the pressure? (Although, in my studious attention to detail, the tall skinny candle I drew on 6-25 somehow became the fat stumpy candle of 7-2!)

Hey, I see a comment below from Milan, Italy! Ciao!
